I loved your blog post and can't wait to see the results of your research. Okay, so here's my thoughts on anal discipline:
It can be anything (plug, finger, ginger, cock, etc.) inserted as part of a punishment session. This can be done before, during, or after a spanking if so desired. I do know that anything inserted in the ass, even a small plug, during a spanking makes it much more difficult for the spankee to zone out into subspace, so it can serve to make sure the spankee feels the whole spanking as intended.
A plug can also be inserted before going out into public to encourage the woman to behave. I've also read some stories where a plug is used during corner time before or after a spanking. I think this ups the humiliation factor for the woman, makes the woman feel more submissive, and makes the experience more memorable.
Hmmm...that's all I can think of. I do enjoy reading and writing stories with anal discipline. In one of my stories, the hero forces the heroine to pull her cheeks apart so he can finger her ass after a spanking while she's still in the OTK position. And in another one of my stories, the hero always has anal sex with the heroine after she's earned a spanking and considers it the final act of her punishment. So yes...seeing more anal discipline in books would suit me just fine!
